I am in NY for the week, and yesterday, I went down to the W. Village where I used to live. It was the perfect day to walk around.

The Dove is a bar a block from where I used to live and has great decor. They have a happy hour where all their specialty cocktails are $6. I had the Ginger Snap which is vodka, lime juice, fresh ginger and a splash of soda. Yum.

They also serve Absinthe which is pictured above. If you've never had it, just a warning that it tastes like licorice. My friend, who has a strong aversion to the smell and taste of licorice, ordered this $15 drink. Oh well, now we know.

This was a Jamaican place 2 doors down from my old apartment. I loved getting their beef patties. Too bad they're no more. But the
Peanut Butter Company next door is still around.

Some of you may recognize the above picture from Will & Grace. Well this place was around forever, but it seems to be closed now. I think it's one of the first cafes I ever went into when I first trekked into the city and hung out in the "cool" West Village soooo many years ago. Sad to see it gone, but I hope they put something really cool in its place.
I didn't get a chance to walk further west where the really nice houses are, but I plan on doing that later this week. I also have to make my way around Soho, of course. Ciao for now.

I am so glad I thought, "Hmm. I haven't checked in on June-bug's blog in awhile..." And there you were, blogging from your old hood! I missed you on Monday. Can't wait to hear about your visit. Loved the Louboutin post, by the way, pant, pant. See you soon! xoxo
Welcome back, temporarily, traitor! j/k.
Have fun in the Big Apple :-)
I haven't been to NY in so long. Lauren and I use to go more often when we lived in DC because we could just take the Chinatown bus up for $20. Next time I go (whenever that will be) I'll have to stop by The Dove and have a Ginger Snap. Sounds so delicious!
