Chicago Renegade 2010

It's been established that I'm bad at blogging, so about 3 weeks after the fact, here are some pics from Chicago Renegade this year. It was the first time I participated and it was so much fun! I hadn't been to Chicago in years, met new people and ran into an old friend!

After about 12 hours on the road, we finally made it to Chicago!

Below are the whacky peeps walking, marching and biking around the festival.

I shared a booth with Jessica Swift. Here are the snap shots of our booth. Notice the new boards I had made hanging from the tent. I love them!
Thank you Renegade for the amazing show, and thanks to all the Chicago peeps that stopped by the booth! I hope to do it again next year!

Just wanted to put quick update on what I'm working on. I've been doing more metal work in my studio and working with copper. I've been gearing up for Renegade Chicago which is coming up so quickly! So here's a little preview of things to come. I can't believe it's almost September already!

My newest studiomate

My studio space is just filled with my tools and supplies, and I've been wanting to decorate it up a bit; maybe put in an inspiration board. I have a good sized Etsy wishlist of things I'd like to get, so it was hard to just purchase one item. Well, the first addition to my studio is this cutie, needle-felted chickee from feltmeupdesigns. Isn't she cute? I haven't given her a name yet, but she just sits on top of my desk watching me bend wire and solder. I've been loving this shop for a while and had a really hard time choosing one. Who knows, maybe she'll have some friends to keep her company when I'm not there. :)For the past two years, I've been wanting to take up needle felting. Maybe one of these days I'll take the plunge. But in the meantime, I will be browsing and purchasing from those who have mastered it.

Just Accept It

I think I'm a binge blogger. I'll post a good amount for a week or two, then fall off the blogosphere for a month. Then I come back and say I'll be better, but the cycle just continues. So I realize that I just have to accept that I will blog when I feel like it, inconsistently, and that's ok. I was never very good at keeping to a set schedule anyway.

So just some things coming up; experiments in metal, a collaboration with a fiber artist and a road trip to Chicago. My mind is overflowing with ideas, and I can't wait to turn them into something real and concrete. Which I can then take pictures of and post! In the meantime, here are some new pieces that are in or soon will be in the shop!

Being Narcissistic Part II

I just wanted to thank Brooke from the Celebration Studio for showcasing my Crystal Droplet Bundle necklace on her blog. This I also found through www.socialmention.com.

Being Narcissistic

I think I spelled that right. Anyway, I was browsing through the Etsy forums and read about the site, www.socialmention.com. It basically searches the interwebs to see where the search term has been mentioned in blogs and social networking sites. So of course, I typed in juneshin to see what came up. Most of it was my own postings of facebook, but I did find out that my necklace squared was featured in an Etsy Storque article on May 10th. I can't believe I didn't even know!
Anyway, it was a nice surprise. So if you want to see if anyone is blogging about you, go check out the site.

Plus, you can get 15% off all purchases and refreshments will be served. See you there!

The Direct Line

I don't really have collections or lines for my jewelry, but I recently decided that I will have a line that is exclusively sold online, and not in stores. Right now, it's labeled as the Direct Line, and because these pieces are sold only in my Etsy shop, the price points are much lower.
Well, I've never been very good at coming up with good names for my pieces, so if you can help me come up with a better name for the collection, I would really appreciate it! In fact, I think I will have an impromptu giveaway. I will give an item from this new line to the person who comes up with a name that I use. Just leave a comment with the name and your contact info. I'll pick a name at the end of the month!

New Studio Space

About a month ago, I moved my studio space out of my house and into a little corner of a friend's studio. Mary, from Felted Heart has this awesome space, so I asked to see if she would be willing to rent out a little corner of it. So now my home is a home again, and now I have a place to go to spend dedicated time to making jewelry without any distractions of television or internet. Before, all my shipping supplies were in the basement, but now I have it all in one contained space for a lot more efficiency. Plus, my friend, Alex, of Lil Sprout Knits will also be renting space. I love having a studio to go to with studio mates to socialize with while working!

and I am hoping to see a little of this:
Well, even though I am on vacation, my online shop is not. However, since I will not be shipping orders until April 19th, the S&H costs are on me! I'm also having a secret sale, but you have to be an e-mail subscriber (you can join on the right) or Facebook Fan to know about it. {hint hint} So happy shopping and happy Spring!

Lately, I've had Japan on my mind because very soon, I will be heading over there to see cherry blossoms, temples and bullet trains. So in honor of that, I want to introduce you to my friend Kaz who is the designer behind Kaz Style. She makes beautiful pouches and jewelry using Japanese fabric and vintage obis and kimonos. Wedding Video with some June Shin Designs by Fototails Photography

A few months ago, Jeanine Thurston, of Fototails Photography, did a wedding photo shoot with products from a variety of designers and artists. I've been slow to post this but an finally sharing it with you all. The styling is gorgeous and Jeanine's photography is absolutely stunning. I was so honored to have some of my bridal designs as part of this shoot, and am working hard to add more designs to the collection.

Viewing these pictures almost makes me want to have another wedding. The bride in this picture is wearing a pair of earrings from my collection. Click on the photo to see the video. Thanks Jeanine!

New Triangles Necklace

When I went to the bead show a month ago, I found this great chain of antique silver triangles, which I turned into this necklace. It's delicate, like my usual designs, but has an industrial feel to it. I think it's my new favorite necklace in the shop.

A customer in Atlanta Magazine

I just found out that one of my customers and fashion blogger is spotlighted in this month's Atlanta Magazine Head-to-Toe style feature. She is Jinah of Bonjour it's Jinah! and she's wearing one of the few copper rose necklaces I had made which her boyfriend bought for a Christmas present. The online version of this article is here. Congratulations on the feature, Jinah!

Procrastinator Quote of the Day

From my procrastinator non-planner. "Procrastination is delaying an action, not ignoring it altogether."

Happy, happy hump day!

New Early Morning Habits

I've always been a night owl, but have been wanting to change that for the longest time. The idea of waking up in the morning and being able to get the stuff done that most people don't do before noon is so appealing. But I love sleep so much and hate getting out of bed in the morning. Especially if it's cold out. So of late, I've been reading the Zen Habits blog, and Leo Babauta wrote a post on the benefits of waking up early and how to start. Now he apparently wakes up at 4:30am which is WAY to early for me. I usually wake up around 8am without an alarm clock, but this week I decided I want to wake up at 7am and see how productive I can be in the mornings. Yesterday, I went to the gym and today, I've finally made a long overdue post on this blog. So far so good, and I hope to keep it up. How are your mornings?

Procrastinator Quote of the Day

Just a little quote from my Procrastinator Planner:
Procrastination is the precious process of filtering out what needs and doesn't need to be done.

Happy Hump Day!

My Tea Set

This is a random post where I just wanted to share with you, this cute little tea set that my husband bought for me for Christmas. It's for loose tea, and with this, I no longer have to deal with a tea infuser. So you put the loose tea in the infuser. The infuser fits within the tea cup and you pour the hot water in the cup. Cover and let it steep for a few minutes, lift out the infuser, and voila, you have tea in the cup. I love it!

Happy New Year and Update

Image from laughing1wolf.blogspot.com
Wow, it's been a while since I blogged. It's Valentine's Day and Lunar New Year, and my husband and I decided to spend the day at Jeju spa for some Korean food and relaxation. So I just wanted to write a quick update of what I've been up to. For you local peeps, Kelly's Closet in Candler Park is now carrying my jewelry! I'm really excited to be working with them, as it is a great boutique. Additionally, I've just brought over new pieces to Sole Shoes over at the Edgewood Shopping Center. They are both carrying pieces that I have yet to put online, but not to worry, I will be uploading within the week.

Happy New Year and Valentine's Day!

I'm knitting again.

Image from eatdrinkman.com

G went to go visit some buddies over in Charleston and asked me to knit a little something for his friend's new son. So I went through my yarn stash and found some cashmerino, which is soft and washable. And this was the outcome for the little bugger. Cute yea? I love making this hat because it's so quick and easy, and I know the pattern by heart.

I got a tattoo!

Actually, I got two, and they're for my laptop. :) My brother started an Etsy shop called LapTatt, so of course I had to purchase something. I really like his stick figure series and then asked him to make a decal with my logo. So now when I'm working at a coffee shop, maybe people will notice the decal and go to my site out of pure curiosity.
I do encourage you to check out his shop for some very cool decals for your laptop.

Doing it Later

So for the past 3 years, I've bought myself weekly planners with the intention of, well, planning my life one week at a time. I usually do well for the first few weeks, then it tapers off. Then I pick it back up again for a short period. It's great when I do use it, but being consistent is my problem. So a few weeks ago, I as at the bookstore and saw the "Do it Later" planner for the "creative procrastinator." Perfect! It has little tips for procrastinating (not that I need help in this area) and a doodle section for where I should be writing my to do lists. And I must say that so far, this year, I have been very good at procrastinating. I've actually been very good at writing my to do lists in this planner, only to rewrite them a week later. By writing this blog post, I can now actually cross something off! So here's the first tip: Monday is the most popular day to visit Internet shopping sites - plan a light workday. Being that I sell my jewelry online, it would be the opposite for me, but I just thought I'd share.

Bad Bad Blogger

Yes, I know, it's Jan 15th, and I haven't blogged all year. I even bought a planner and planned out some posts to write about, but just haven't gotten around to it. So, a belated Happy New Year to you all, and I will be posting soon. I promise!
