Weekend Update

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend. The weather has been absolutely beautiful and pleasant here in Atlanta, so G and I spent our time outside. Kicked off the weekend with a few cocktails, and we woke up really early on Saturday and Sunday, that we actually had to wait for the brunch places and coffee shops to open.
Well, tomorrow's my birthday, which means sale time! I'll post the details here, on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and send out an email. See you tomorrow!

Great display

I was walking around West Elm the other day to get some new curtains and also get some display ideas. I love browsing through their catalog. Above one of their bookshelves was this display of books. Fantastic, don't you think? Props to the visual merchandiser.

Calypso St Barth Opening

Calypso St. Barth just opened a new store on the Westside in Atlanta. So two girlfriends and I went over to their opening to see the pretty store and enjoy a glass of mimosa. They had a lot of colorful pieces and when I saw the top above, I had to try it on. I wore it with a matching pair of cropped AG jeans and it was such a cute outfit. The top is now the newest member in my wardrobe. Just in time for my girls trip up to Newport, RI. More on that later.

Hope you had a great weekend!

Post Inman Park

As usual, Inman Park was packed out. They estimated that about 100,000 people came on Saturday, alone! Craziness! Well, I just wanted to share some photos from my booth.

Below is my new necklace display. They are lampshades from Ikea. Clever, no? I thought so.

Inman Park Festival 2012

It's that time of year again where I'm in massive production mode for the Inman Park Festival this weekend. I will be having a whole table full of sale items that are marked 35%-50%  off and racks of $9-$12 earrings! Plus some fun goodies. So please come by my booth. As long as they keep me in the same spot, I'll be on Euclid at the corner of Hurt.

Also, for those of you who are not local or can't make it, I will be putting up sale items online the following weekend. That'll give me some time to photograph and upload them. I'll announce it on my Facebook page, Twitter, Instagram and send out an email. So follow me on any of these social network sites or join my mailing list to stay in the loop!

Lovely Clusters

Like a lot of girls, I like looking at pretty things. The blog, Lovely Clusters features so many beautiful items and pictures, so it is one that I visit regularly.  Well, Rachel of Lovely Clusters, just made this awesome Spring Gift Guide and asked for help with curating some pages. As you know, I've been making treasuries on Etsy, so I thought this would be fun to do. I submitted my curation, and voila, above is the result. Pretty, yes? You can click here to view the whole catalog. Enjoy!

Fabric Flower brooches

This weekend I spent the majority of it making jewelry and these fabric flower pins. I love buying different colored fabric and making these. They're super easy to make too. After my next festival, maybe I'll put up a tutorial.

Happy Monday!

Younger You

Day 9 of the April photo a day challenge was Younger You, so I just had to share this pic of me back in the summer before 10th grade. We all had perms, right? It was actually fun to go through some old photo albums. When's the last time you flipped through old pictures?

Weekend in Photos

As you know, I am participating in Fat Mum Slim's photo a day challenge. Here are the past four days from the lovely three day weekend in Atlanta. And seriously, it was the most perfect weekend. I only hope that this weather stays this pleasant for a few more weeks before it becomes scorchingly hot.

I also created a photo a day Pinterest board to keep all my photos in one spot. Hope you all had a great weekend!

Today I'm excited

Saw this on Pinterest and just loved it. It was found on Katie Rodgers' Instagram feed. She is a fashion illustrator, and I just love her work.

I definitely recommend checking out her shop to see awesome work. I've been collecting wall art to eventually put up in my studio. One of hers will definitely be going up there.

Sunday Stroll

This past Sunday was a beautiful day, so after making some jewelry in the studio, I took a walk around, camera in hand. I stumbled upon some handprints in the cement, and below were kids handprints in paint. Cute!

Studio Time

Nowadays, you will see all the cars here with this greenish, yellow halo, which means that Spring has officially arrived. This means that I'm in the studio a lot making lots of pieces for the Inman Park Festival. I will be continuing my spring cleaning theme, so I am actually going to have a whole sale section this year. I'm going to have a bunch of $10 earrings and items that are 50% off, so mark your calendars. April 28th and 29th are the dates. Below are a few pics of what I've been working on and my process.

Green Smoothies

I've been on a bit of a healthy foods kick of late. I'm not sure what really triggered it, but about a month ago I started making green smoothies for breakfast every morning. Vegetables have never really been my thing, but I would force myself to eat some for all those health reasons. So these smoothies are a great way to incorporate fresh fruits and vegetables into my diet. My husband bought me a fresh pineapple so I could come up with some kind of concoction. My first batch was not so great because I added way to much ginger. Subsequent ones were much better.

Ingredients:
2 mandarins
4 romaine leaves
chunks of pineapple
sliver of ginger
1 banana
almond butter
almond milk
chia seeds
dash of agave

By the way, pineapples are a pain to cut. If you have any smoothie recipes, I'd love to read them.

New Eye Makeup

A few months ago, I got rid of all my eye makeup and brushes due to a nasty stye that I got. So last night, I got this little shipment of goods, which made me giddy.
What are some of the little things that make you happy?

Weekend Getaway to Tennessee

This past weekend, Gene and I went up to spend the weekend at his dad's place with a few friends. His dad has a really nice house that sits on a few acres of land. His dad is also an amateur landscaper, so the grounds are immaculate. Below are a few shots of the land and the buds that are starting to bloom. There's also a fire pit, and we were able to get a really great, warm fire started.

And I just had to share a picture of how we started the day. Homemade shrimp and grits and some bubbly. Oh, and I spent the whole day in my PJs. So luxurious!

Hope you guys had a great weekend, and I'd love to hear what you did.

Personal Projects

I decided this year that I would have a project to work on every month. It started with the January Photo A Day challenge that I found through a blog that linked to Fat Mum Slim. Basically, for each day of the month, she posted a topic/subject that you interpret however you like, and photograph it. There are no rules, and you could either share on your favorite social media site(s) or just keep it to yourself using whatever device you chose. I mainly used my iPad and Droid camera and shared them in Instagram. Here's a sample of some of my pics.

It was a lot of fun and great to see everyone else's pics too. I took a break after January, but I'm pretty sure I'll take it up again one of these months. Oh, and I'd love it if you would if you would follow my Instagram. Just look for juneshin.

If you want to join in on the fun starting next month, the March challenge has been posted:

Blogging Again!

After over a year of not blogging and many months of thinking about blogging again, I've decided to come back to it. I'm not making any promises to myself on how often I'll be writing or having making sure that I post about certain topics on a given day. I was trying to do what I thought needed to be done, and what I read needed to be done, and it just wasn't working for me. So, it'll be totally organic, and I am looking forward to see what I come up with. I hope you'll join me.
