Avondale Autumn Festival Weekend

As you may or may not now, I had a booth at an arts festival this weekend. I had never heard of it before, so I didn't know what the turnout was going to be like. Well, it was not so great. I don't know if it was the show itself, the economy or a combination of both, but there wasn't that much traffic. You live and you learn, right? Anyway, here are pics of my booth. What do you think? Would you come into my booth?
Well now that I have pictures, I can apply to the bigger shows which will hopefully mean more business for me!

Oh, I did meet some other indie artists, which is always fun. I even did a trade with someone who makes cute plushies! She's customizing one for me, so I'll get it in 2 weeks when we're both at the Cabbagetown Chomp and Stomp festival. Can't wait!

Yes, I would have stopped in to your booth. I don't think it's you or the economy. In my experience, shows are VERY hit and miss (mostly miss for us). The organizers really need to market correctly or you just won't get the traffic. Location is key as well. We've yet to do a show and make back our booth fee!

Chalk it up to experience and hopefully you got to network with the other vendors!

I think your booth looks gorgeous! I totally didn't know the Avondale Fest was going on.

You should definitely apply to the Oakhurst Arts & Music Festival (every October) and the Clairemont Holiday Market. Both those events have great foot traffic.

pfeiffer, sorry to hear that you've lost money on the shows. There's one where I didn't make my booth fee, but there was a ton of traffic.

Heels, thanks so much!

AC, I will definitely look into Oakhurst next year. I did Clairemont last year, and there was a lot of traffic, but I didn't make any money. So I was wary about doing it again this year. I know it was because of my location (end of the hall) and my booth. It looked a lot more amateur. Maybe I'll try next year.

I think you have a wonderful setup! It must have been bad timing. You have a very nice shop, I'm sure you will be a hit in other shows, especially bigger ones.

Your booth is gorgeous both in person and in pictures. As pfeiffer mentions, it's definitely hit-or-miss. Even the same show can do very differently from year-to-year. I've done Inman 4-5 years and I still can't predict how I'll do in a given year. For me, this year was the worst at Inman (despite all the traffic) and the best at Candler (even with less traffic). You're realy doing great. Don't worry about individual shows. It all evens out in the end.
